An intense and superbly acted one and a half
hours on the matters of science and
religion, of rational integrity and
human love. Brilliant

The Independent on On Religion

Mick Gordon and A.C. Grayling

IS THERE A PROBLEM WITH RELIGIOUS BELIEF?
What principles do we want to live our lives by? Which codes will we use to guide our behaviour? A courageous search for the best way to live.

In this time of fundamentalists and fundamentalisms, On Religion is a considered contemplation on the complex issues of faith and religion Informed by conversations with leading philosophers, theologians and scientists including: Professor Richard Dawkins, Rev Dr Giles Fraser, Professor John Gray, Baroness Julia Neuberger, Archbishop Rowan Williams and Tariq Ramadan, this play explores faith and religion through a human, moving and theatrical story.

On Religion was first presented at the Soho Theatre in December 2006. The cast included Gemma Jones, Pip Donaghy, Elliot Levey and Priyanga Burford.

The show was then revived in a revised version and under the title of Grace by the MCC Theatre Company at the Lucille Lortel theatre in New York in January 2008. The cast included Lynne Redgrave, Oscar Isaac, K.K. Moggie and Philip Goodwin.

This revised version of the play was also performed in separate production for the British Council at Theatre du Poche in Brussels, Belgium in February 2008. The cast included: Paola Dionisotti, Sam Cox, Ferdy Roberts and Chipo Chung.

On Religion has also been broadcast on BBC Radio 4.
